Thomson Gale Announces Release of Dictionary of Literary Biography, Volume 326
Newest Title Focuses on Booker Prize Novels from 1969-2005
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., Oct. 9, 2006 – Thomson Gale, part of the Thomson Corporation (NYSE: TOC; TSX: TOC), announces the release of the Dictionary of Literary Biography Volume 326: Booker Prize Novels, 1969–2005. The Dictionary of Literary Biography series, produced by Bruccoli Clark Layman, Inc. and published by Thomson Gale, is now in its 28th year.
Booker Prize Novels, 1969–2005 includes entries for 39 novels that have won Great Britain’s most prestigious fiction prize since its inception in 1969. From modest beginnings, the Booker Prize has become the focus of interest and sometimes controversy in the world literary community, with debates, extensive media coverage and handicapping by bookmakers accompanying the announcement of the shortlist of nominated works each year. The prize has served as the culmination of the careers of some of the British Commonwealth’s most respected writers and helped launch the careers of lesser-known authors.
Each essay in the volume is written by a contributing scholar who analyzes the winning novel in detail and places it in the context of its author’s career. The volume also provides an introduction by the editor, Merritt Moseley of the University of North Carolina at Asheville.
