Gale Announces New Search Interface and Enhanced Features for Biography Resource Center

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., June 22, 2007 - At this week's  American Library Association National Conference, Gale will showcase Biography Resource Center's new search  interface and range of enhanced features.

Enhancements to Biography Resource Center are  designed to make the database easier to use and highlight the currency of this  acclaimed resource.  Navigational  elements are streamlined, including more direct access to the open Web from the  Websites tab.  Category Browse creates a  new pathway to biographies on  highly notable individuals from ancient to current times.  Results for full-length biographies are  ordered by update date and the Recent Update news icon has been made easier to  see, leading users to updated biographies more efficiently.

Also included in the improved Biography Resource Center are:

  • A freshened, more contemporary interface
  • Category Browse, with biographical profiles in more than 15 categories (and       growing), including athletes, world leaders, multicultural groups and more
  • Results lists that display and order full-length biographies by date last updated
  • Word counts following citations for individual biographies on results lists
  • Renamed reference content tabs for improved clarity and navigation
  • More direct access to open Web addresses from the vetted Websites tab

The Biography Resource Center is  a comprehensive database of biographical information on over 340,000 people  from throughout history, around the world, and across all disciplines and  subject areas. It combines more than 432,000 biographies from over 980 volumes  of more than 135 respected Gale sources with full-text articles from nearly 300  magazines, nearly 19,000 vetted websites, and more than 27,000 images. More  than 50 volumes of new and updated content are added to the database each year.
